Chapter 6

One Truth

Mark Twain once said, “Man is the only animal with the One True Faith. Many of them!”

However, I am going to posit, proclaim, even insist that there is One Truth I know with absolute certainty:

I Am.

It is like entering into a story about my father going off to war. He faced enormous hardships and moments of deadly peril. But I know he survived – because I am here to enter into the story.

Even if one develops a perfectly rational proof that existence itself is unreal, one fact remains: some conscious and self-conscious being was necessary to offer up that proof.

I Am.

Being.

More words around this fact, this One Truth, will not make it more true.

For me.

Or, I imagine, for you.

So I am stopping here to encourage you to take a moment, or a day, or many years, to examine this absolutely unbelievable truth:

You are here.

And nothing can disprove that to the one experiencing it.
